While the bike is sorted with protection add-ons still a couple on order from Touratech agent in Dubai www.2xwheeler.com it was time to think about what kit I would take. As space is limited to 35 &41 litre Panniers and a 50 litre Ortlieb bag. It will need some careful thinking, as I am taking camping kit. So small pannier for Camping kit and very small amount of food, large pannier for clothes and personal stuff, Ortlieb bag for tent water proofs and other bits of kit. I am very conscious of packing too much and the weight put on the bike. After beginning in the Army and having to carry it on your back you can survive with very little but I do like a few creature comforts when camping like a TENT.
35 Liter Pannier

I will be wearing the BMW Rally 2 Suit. I brought this suit in early 2000 so it’s over 8 years old the jacket is still in great condition although the trousers have had a hard life as the leather inserts on the inside of the knees have started to fall apart. I find the suit very comfortable not the warmest as there are zips all over it to vent it, when its wet its cold as the Gore-Tex is a detachable liner, the key is in the name after all it is a Rally suit.
My helmet is a BMW system 6. I have used this helmet in the UK for
teaching and here in the UAE its fitted with Auto Com for music, phone and GPS via the GPS,
Boots again are BMW Santiago very comfortable, I was considering wearing my motor cross boots as this would be what I normally wear when touring the Oman but not that comfortable and not waterproof.
Gloves, I will be taking 4 pairs with me. Yes 4 pairs, a pair of motor cross gloves that I can use through UAE and Iran then get rid of them as the weather will get colder. pair of Alpine Star SMX-AC although still an enduro type glove, a pair of BMW Gore-Tex gloves for that European weather, also a very thin set of silk cold weather liners as I think it may get a bit cold somewhere on route.
