I was born in Portsmouth in Feb 1966 some 16 years later I joined the Army and enlisted into the Parachute Regiment were I spent the next 23 years travelling around the world with great friends. I left the Army in 2006 reaching the rank of Warrant Officer. In 2006 I married Kimberley and between us we have 4 children Lucy, James, Charlotte and my daughter Abbie although none of them are children. I accepted a job offer to work in the Middle East (Dubai). Where I have been for the last 6 years working with the UAE Army as a military advisor, enjoying all the joys of working in the UAE. Throughout my years of growing up or not as the case may be I have been involved in all kinds of motor sport. Starting off with an orange RS2000 for road and track use then moving on to 4x4 racing off road, Banger racing for a couple of years, back to 4x4’s but bikes have always been in there some were as a real passion riding whenever I can on whatever I could. In early 2000 I brought an R1150gs Adventure and really got the bug for adventure travel. Travelling around Europe when I came to the UAE the GS came with me riding all over the OMAN. Then came the Idea to take part in what was then the UAE Desert Challenge (now the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge) a 6 day rally raid. Funny what happens after a couple of beers! A year’s training to get the riding to the right standard many thanks to Sean Linton of Gecko Motorcycle and Dave McBride for their help. First year not so good, second year much better, 3rd and 4th years on the tools with the support crew. Then came the R1200gs from the UK again at a price that could not be refused and back into the Oman with Sean and Dave for some great riding. When my contract here was coming to an end I thought it would be a good Idea to put in action the ride back home plan, most people that have done it form Dubai would go through Turkey into Europe, well not me I plan to go through Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia, Czech-Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, France, UK. On return to the UK I am planning to open a motorcycle training school in the Colchester area. I qualified as an Instructor a couple of years ago doing my training with Tony Smykowski owner and founder of Phoenix Motorcycle Training www.phoenixtrainingonline.co.uk
of which I plan to be part of. The school will cater for all types of motorcycle training from new riders to advanced and off road training.
